Celebrating Life

I have been away due to the death of my Aunt, my Mother's sister. She was 90 on January 26 and she had a massive stroke..She and my Mother were only 14 months apart and they called each other their twin..She is with  peace now. It was so sudden and such a shock that Mother is taking it very hard.. She is 91 and it is taking its toll on her.  She lives with us, so I can keep a good eye on her and help her through this time..Mom is one of 11 girls and  and 2 brothers.. There is 4 sisters and 1 brother left.. Today is the funeral and our time to say GOODBYE to a very sweet lady.. We will miss her.. My Grandpa had a nickname for all of his children and her's was LITTLE TRUMPET and now she is blowing that horn for the Lord..

Lovely Antique Quilts

These others are  good too, just not as colorful but you and I know lots of work went in to them and no labels. . Ladies please label your quilts...........

TALK ABOUT QUILTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

These were just a few of the quilts that were there.. Lots of doilies and tablecloths china tea cups, thought of Jenny and Blossom, how much they love the tea..This one particular quilt called CRAZY KALIEDOSCOPE OF GRANDMOTHER'S FLOWER GARDEN.. the lady  at the Herb Fest had purchased it at a sale and had been told the story of the quilt. She had made 3 of the same exact pattern  for her 3 children but the only one left was this one. She said the family had been from Nebraska and nobody knew what happened to the other 2. Some of the pieces in the quilt were just 1/2", very small, the quilt had no batting and was roughly hand quilted. But so striking!

Did I Mention Bags..

These are just a few of my creations.. I have made lots of them using old jeans.. People would give me bags of old ones and I have sold many.. I went to a class at our Jackman Fabrics store and fell in love with the patchwork design of BARB RANDLE'S CRAZY QUILTING WITH ATTITUDE. I bought her book, then went to the class ( with a finished bag). Everyone was so impressed and I was so happy that I decided to make more. Then a friend of my DD#! was having a open house and wanted some of my bags,, well sold lots and got lots of orders that evening. Then everyone started making them,. I really enjoy making them but not much market for them now??

What's In a Name?

The other day when I went to Jackmans Fabrics, I also went to Joann's.They had a big sale and I got a big wooden " M" for my sewing room.. Not sure where I'll put it but trust me, I'll find some little nook or cranny.  You think about your parents and when they named you, how excited they must have been and choosing your name. Maybe after another family member, or movie star or someone that really inspired them.. Then that name takes you to your destination and creates who you are.. I was named after each one of my parents sisters.. Now my DD2 was named by her brother and sister and she never liked her name and always said she would change it someday, and she did.. You see she was baptized and and when she came up out of the water a born again Christian, she took her new name..Who could argue with that.?? So whatever your name ,be proud and remember how wonderful  it must have been at the time. Peace out!! My "M" in progress!!!!
